I’ve owned Quiet Storm, my Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open, since 2008. I was the third owner and it was my third boat. Having owned and enjoyed the boat for over 18 years, I'm ready for a new chapter - so the boat comes for sale with many extras included.

Denia Maina has great facilities, restaurants and bars - and is a perfect location on what's arguably the best coastal sailing in Spain. This mooring can be transfered to the new owner should you wish to keep the boat here. I'm also happy to do a proper handover and help the new owner get the full enjoyment out of this fabulous boat. Why a Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open?

The Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open first caught my eye at the 2006 London Boat Show, where the model was being launched in the UK. At the time I had a Jeanneau Leader 805, I loved it but the Prestige 34 was the natural upgrade as my family out grew the 805.

In 2008 I was approached by my local Jeanneau dealer, as a Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open had come up for sale located in Poole, Dorset - where I live in the UK. It was the exact boat I’d seen at the London Boat Show. I bought it, trading in my trusty 805 after 5 years building fantastic memories. As this Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open was the 'launch boat' at the London Boat Show, it had every conceivable extra included at the time. Fully loaded and introducing me to twin engines giving 520 hp to play with - let the adventures begin!

With over 18 years of fabulous adventures and memories, I have now decided to get out of boating - so this boat comes equipped with everything you need. From warps and fenders to boat hooks, a tender (not used in a while) and electric outboard - even a spare GPS and specially fabricated stainless BBQ.

The best value Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open for sale on the market today

I’ve priced to sell, and the reason for selling is simple – my wife and I want to do more travelling and the boat will get little use as a result of this lifestyle change. You’ll see from the recent pictures featured on this page, the boat is in generally excellent condition for its age, with its original upholstrey and sun pads. However, the Spanish sun decimates the canvas covers and they do need replacing. As covers have such an influence over the overall look of the boat, I feel this is something the new owner would want to specify. There are also one or two minor gelcoat repairs needed, but anything required is just cosmetic.

About the Jeanneau Prestige 34

The Jeanneau Prestige 34 was a particularly successful model from the early years of the Prestige range, with production running from approximately 2003 to 2009 and more than 500 boats built within its first five years. Designed by Garroni, the 34 was offered in both Open (Canvas roof) and Sport Top version (Sliding roof). I had sea trialled a Sport Top version but couldn’t get on with the lack of visibility – the additional roofing structure was directly in my eyeline.

The Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open combines generous accommodation and an unusually spacious sociable cockpit. Whether you want to use it for exploring the coastline or a dayboat, it has lively sports-cruiser performance, with the qualities of a highly regarded practical cruising boat. This is what drew me to the Prestige 34, there is nothing comparable at this size for the accomodation and more importantly cockpit entertaining space.

I've had this boat for over 18 years - and travelled further in it more than most! Yet the engines have done 1200 hours - where and how do you spend most of your time on a motorboat? The space and flexibility of the cockpit was, and still is a real winner for me - and Jeanneau definitely got this right on the Prestige 34.

About the Engines

My Prestige 34 Open is powered by the desirable twin Volvo Penta D4-260 diesels, producing a combined 520 hp. Introduced in 2004, the D4-260 is a 3.7-litre, four-cylinder common-rail diesel developing 260 hp and 615 Nm of torque, giving the 34 excellent acceleration, economical cruising and a top speed in the low-to-mid 30-knot range depending on conditions and loading.

The engines on my Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open:

start promptly from cold;
reach their specified maximum RPM;
achieve the expected boost pressure and temperature;
don't smoke excessively;
don't consume significant oil or coolant;
have clean service records;
have had the heat exchangers/aftercoolers and cooling system properly maintained;
have had the turbos and injectors checked as appropriate;
the outdrives, steering and DuoProps have been properly serviced

N.B. Since arriving in Denia July 2018, my Prestige 34 Open has been serviced and cared for by Androna Nautica - who I can’t recommend highly enough. They have full electronic records (available as PDF’s) of all the work carried out which I can send to any interested buyer. As a person who is not mechanically minded, anything needed has always been done. My time using the boat is precious to me - so a preventative maintenance regime is a given.

The D4 engine family remains in production today, having evolved considerably over more than 20 years. These engines have approximately 1,220 hours and have been maintained by authorised Volvo Penta engineers from new, providing an excellent and fully documented* maintenance history.

*The documentation of the servicing from when the boat was in the UK may be possible to get - but given 8+ years have elapsed, I haven't approached Golden Arrow who serviced the boat when it was in Poole. (The previous two owners also used Golden Arrow - the main Volvo Penta Agent, as they were Poole based too).

About my time with the Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open

During the 18 years plus I’ve owned the boat, I’ve travelled 1000’s of nautical miles. When located in Poole, Dorset, in UK – I went pretty much everywhere between Chichester in the East to Salcombe in the West, mainly for long weekends but sometimes longer, taking in multiple destinations. The boat had many trips to the Channel Islands and even featured in the first Guernsey and Jersey Boat Show – shown here at St Peter Port, Guernsey, in May 2008.

The Guernsey and Jersey Boat Show was my first major outing in the Prestige 34, and a real adventure as I crossed the English Channel - the busiest international shipping lane and seaway in the world. I had done this many times before in my 805 - but....

I set off in blue skies with a boating pal, mid channel we were immersed in thick fog - not seeing another thing until we reached St Peter Port. The radar was fantastic (couldn’t have done it without it) but following this adventure I had AIS fitted so I could see other vessels, their direction of travel and all details (Name, direction, size, speed, etc).

As my family grew my wife and daughter left the more adventurous sailing voyages to my son and I – or boys trips with other boating pals up for an adventure. However, living in Poole and the largest natural harbour in the northern hemisphere, there were plenty of weekends spent on the boat in local waters. Boating is the perfect getaway – a few minutes motoring to get a million miles away from everything and everyone.

Bringing the boat to Denia was my greatest adventure

Having bought a place in Javea, this was an itch I needed to scratch. June 6^th 2018, my son Josh and I departed Poole, destination Denia. Jeanneau Prestige 34 Open at Tabarca Island

Since having the boat in Denia we’ve even taken it down south to Tabarca Island. On the way we stopped overnight at El Campello, then arrived at Tabarca Island early the next morning where we anchored and stayed overnight. A day on this tiny, car-free island off the coast of Alicante is magical. Wandering around the tiny fishermen’s houses, all now artisan craft shops – and around the18th-century walled village was amazing. From there we went to Santa Pola for a couple of nights, before returning via an overnight stop at Calpe.

This is what the Prestige 34 On is made for – but lately due to many reasons - the boat has mainly been used as a day boat, and occasional additional accommodation if we’ve had friends in the apartment. I have so many great memories of my time with this boat, and have relived them through creating this page - hopefully the enjoyment this boat brings comes across.

As a day boat it has plenty of room and licensed for 11 people offshore. Which means having a group of friends to cruise along the coast to Moraira for lunch, stopping off in the numerous bays for drinks on the boat, a sunbathe and swim in the crystal clear waters – is just delightful.

My Prestige 34 Open has created so many happy memories, but now it’s time for her to have some new adventures with new owners.
